Gipton Growers

Tuesdays 1.30-3.30pm at The Old Fire Station

Gipton Growers are a group of community growers who look after Gipton Community Garden (all the grounds at The Old Fire Station). The tasks of the group vary depending on the season and what needs to be done. Spring and Summer are often busy with preparing beds, sowing seeds, looking after seedlings and plenty of watering. We also try to do some cooking and eating sessions with our produce too which the group always love. Autumn is generally a tidy up after the busyness of summer and then as we move through Winter we tend to focus on building jobs (raised beds, greenhouses, sheds etc.) maintenance and preparing/planning for the year ahead.

The group started in February 2019 with initially a small group of 3/4 participants that has grown from strength to strength in the last 12 months. We now have at least 10 people attending every session with numbers rising to 20+ in the warmer months.

Gipton Growers also visit other community gardens and places of interest which are lovely ways to spend time together as a group outside of The Old Fire Station.
