Greening Gipton

Greening Gipton was a programme of activities for building place-based climate resilience in Gipton, working with local people of all ages from February-December 2024. This included further provision for our Gipton Growers group, furthering the development of the community garden at The Old Fire Station, then applying this approach to other community spaces in Gipton. Other objectives of the project included the development of local environmental stewardship, and addressing levels of climate anxiety. These elements of the project were fulfilled by a walking group, and a creativity/advocacy group. Greening Gipton also saw the development of Little Free Exchanges, which expanded the concept of Little Free Libraries to encourage sharing of food, seeds, climate action resources, and art.
