People’s Pantry & The Clothing Rebellion
Two community businesses run by a group of women from the Gipton area of East Leeds
Who our community businesses benefit
The people who benefit from People’s Pantry and The Clothing Rebellion are those living in the Gipton area who are on a low income, including families; single people; socially isolated people; unemployed people, working people on a low income; people without a cooker or cooking equipment; people with mental health needs; local volunteers for the organisation Space2 who have particular needs.
What People’s Pantry and The Clothing Rebellion bring to Gipton
People’s Pantry and The Clothing Rebellion are needed in the Gipton area because many people are on a low income. There is a lack of affordable café and community lunch options in the area, and a lack of affordable places for community members to meet up and connect in a friendly and welcoming environment. There is also a lack of a personalised and dignified service offering local people affordable clothes. Our community businesses also provide a much-needed opportunity for local people to work together to make a positive difference in the Gipton area.
